As we move towards the date for acceptance and operation of the E.U. legislation on ELTIFS,9th December 2015 I wonder how many financial advisors and financial managers are aware of these type of investments?

For the high net worth individual ,that is a Retail Investor ,information on these types of investment should already start to be more active in the media so as to build up the connection and infrastructure needed  for when the Funds are set up ready for investment.

There are many objectives for these funds and it does look from initial research and following information with regards to projects that come under the umbrella of Eltifs that there will be plenty of projects put on hold or that require funding that will ,and will look as , they are suitable for these funds and will pass the criteria for inclusion.

The general consensus is that these funds will probably reach an investment total of about 400 Billion Euros per year which should attract the best Alternative Investment Fund Managers to get involved.

The European Union has authorised these funds ,which will become operational on
9th December 2015 .

The funds which equate to approx. 400 Billion Euros a year invested are expected to create employment within the European Countries.

At this time the Regulators in each European Country are adjusting their regulation to accomodate these funds for the set date.

Also the Tax Authorities in each European Country have been doing the same.


With regards to the Retail Investor these funds are for High Net Worth Individuals only.

The minimum investment will be 10,000 Euros which has to be 10% of an investment pot of 100,000 Euros.Those investors with 500,000 Euros to invest can invest a maximum of 50,000 Euros.This size of investment however can be placed in more than 1 ELTIF.

Infrastructure,Research and Development,Social Housing,Education,Hospitals, and Prisons will be among the investments of the Funds.
